Psychology A-level offers an exciting, hands-on exploration of human behaviour and mental processes, covering topics like memory, brain anatomy, and forensic psychology. Students will analyse famous experiments, conduct their own research, and prepare for exams through a two-year curriculum.
Psychology is the study of how we think, act, and feel, and it is used everywhere—from solving crimes to helping pro athletes win.
The A-Level course covers several different topics, and you will have the chance to build on the skills you have learnt at school so far. Psychology has a little bit of everything Science, English, History and even a little bit of Maths.
You will stop guessing and start testing! You will dive into the secrets of the mind through a mix of cool theories, group debates, and hands-on experiments. You will not just read about it; you will actually have the opportunity to conduct your own research to see how people tick.
What will I learn?
Some of topics that you will explore on the course are:
- The Brain’s Anatomy: Go inside your head to see how the physical brain creates thoughts.
- Memory Hacks: Learn the models of how we remember (and why we forget).
- Social Power: Why do we follow the crowd? You will look at famous (and slightly scary) experiments on obedience and conformity.
- Mind Mysteries: Discover the science behind Schizophrenia, how we form attachments, and how Forensic Psychology helps catch criminals.
Assessment
At the end of this two-year journey, you will take three exams (two hours each). The questions are a mix of quick multiple-choice, short answers, and longer essays where you can really show off what you have learned.
