Weekly Newsletter for Parents 16.01

Posted: 16th January 2026

Welcome from Candy and Emmy

We have several exciting trips and excursions this term including our annual History of Art trip to Florence and Venice, external lectures, gallery visits and theatre trips.

The closing date for 2026 university entrance was yesterday, and many of our Upper Sixth students have already received offers for their chosen courses. We are now focusing attention on the Lower Sixth, who had their introductory talk by Margaret, Director of Careers on Tuesday. We always start early and would emphasise the necessity to be ahead of the game to be successful in achieving first choice offers.

Higher Education Parents Evening

On Wednesday, 21st January, Margaret Park (our Director of Careers) is hosting a Lower Sixth Higher Education Parents Evening talk at 5pm. We hope to see all Lower Sixth parents and students in The Law Theatre at 5 pm.

This week’s trips

Gabi is taking Year 9 students on an Art trip to Young V&A and Museum as part of the research for their current theme entitled ‘Home’. The students will be taken by Gabi from Parkhill on Wednesday morning and be brought back to college for afternoon lessons.

Student Council

The Student Council is meeting on Thursday 22nd at 1pm in Room 1 Centre Studios. Our councillors and their responsibilities are as follows:

  • Charity Group – Freya, Genevieve, Nora, Odessa
  • Culture & Events Group – Ruby, Alex, Annaliza, Isel
  • Sustainability Group – Addi, Eva, Katie, Anahita, Rayne
  • Academic Group – Bridie, Odessa, Ada

Fine Arts Continuing Education (FACE)

Now in its fifth year, this term’s art history adult evening course is entitled Great Lives, 10 lectures on often forgotten artists and themes. This week Lekha gave a fascinating talk on The Fantastical Life and Work of Hieronymus Bosch. Next Wednesday Candy will explore Richard Dadd, A Classified Criminal Lunatic. This course runs on Wednesday evenings 6-7.30 in Room 1 Centre Studios.

Life Drawing for Professionals to Beginners begins next Tuesday 6-8 at Centre Studios. Desmond Healy, a very successful artist, tutor and alumnus, teaches the course.

Welcome to New Tutors

We are delighted to welcome two new tutors to the College. Harriet Eyre (BA Bournemouth PGCE) now leads the Drama Department. Hattie is a highly experienced tutor and examiner and is teaching all year groups Drama and LAMDA. Jenna Hickman (BA Chichester PGCE) is our Dance Tutor (maternity leave). Both bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, and we are delighted to have them at Fine Arts.college drama dance tutors

January Open Day

We would love to invite you to our Open Day on January 27th 2026 (at 2.30pm & 5pm) at our Parkhill Campus.

We believe that prospective students and parents can only really understand what makes Hampstead Fine Arts College so special by coming to visit us and experiencing our unique atmosphere for themselves.

At our Open Day you will hear in more detail about the values and vision of the College, its staff and its students, and enjoy a full tour of the College as well as the opportunity to speak to members of staff.

After this, you are welcome to book an interview with the Principal or the Head which is an opportunity to discuss subject choices in the context of each student’s personal interests and higher education goals.
