As we come to the end of term, we have some wonderful celebrations to show off the talent of our students, including exhibitions, next week’s play, film shows and music performances. We do hope you will all join us to congratulate the students on their hard work in and out of the classroom.
Trip to Go Ape Battersea
On Monday, Year 9 and Year 10 students enjoyed an exciting trip to Go Ape, where they took part in a range of outdoor adventure activities designed to challenge and inspire. From navigating treetop obstacles and rope bridges to soaring along zip lines, students demonstrated impressive confidence, resilience and determination throughout the day. The trip provided a fantastic opportunity to build teamwork skills, support one another and create some wonderful memories outside the classroom.
This week’s Enrichment Talk
On Tuesday, Sara Lord, Chief Creative Officer at Recognition Music Group, spoke to us about the way in which the rights to songs and music have become a highly valuable commodity. Music libraries are bought and sold for large sums of money. Usually copyright is fiercely guarded, but private social media such as TikTok can bring old songs to huge new audiences, as we’ve seen with Fleetwood Mac and Top Loader. Sara’s job is to manage the marketing of songs by a wide range of artists, from 50 Cent to Shakira, for use in film, tv and advertising.
Politics and History Trip to Treasures Collection at British Library
On Tuesday, Year 12 Politics and History students visited the British Library to explore the Treasures Collection. The visit gave students the opportunity to see some of the world’s most significant historical documents, manuscripts and artefacts, providing valuable insight into the people, events and ideas that have shaped history and politics.
Art Trip to Horniman Museum and Dulwich Picture Gallery
On Wednesday, Year 9 travelled to South London to visit the Horniman Museum. They went to the World Exhibition and created a range of stories, depicted by drawings in panels inspired by the artefacts displayed. After having lunch in the café, and a surprise visit to the petting zoo, they walked over to Dulwich Picture Gallery to see the display of Konrad Mägi paintings. They discovered that he uses various techniques to portray elements of energy and movement making the paintings look alive. It was a wonderful day!
Cambridge Trip
Some Lower Sixth students made a visit to Cambridge on Thursday. We walked around Dowling College, visited the Fitzwilliam Museum and spent a memorable couple of hours in Kettle’s Yard, an art gallery and historic house museum converted from a row of four former slum cottages by Jim and Helen Ede. We all felt incredibly privileged to enjoy such a unique experience where modern art and life meet.

Next Tuesday, our Enrichment speaker will be Julian Nott, conductor and composer of the theme music for the much-loved Wallace and Gromit films and Peppa Pig. He has also launched Pulped.com, an on-line edgy comedy channel for young adults.
Politics and History Trip to National Portrait Gallery
Next Tuesday, Year 12 Politics and History students will be taking a walking tour of Westminster and the National Portrait Gallery with Steven and Sam. Beginning at the National Portrait Gallery, students will follow a route through St James’s and Westminster, exploring the lives and achievements of some of the most pioneering and influential figures in British history. The trip will connect politics, history and culture, bringing classroom topics to life through the places, institutions and stories that have helped shape modern Britain.
End of Year Foundation and GCSE Art Exhibition
Next Wednesday (before the play performance), we are hosting the End of Year Exhibition for Foundation and GCSE Art at Parkhill: Wednesday 17th June 4pm – 5.30pm. Please email fin.hart@hampsteadfinearts.com if you would like to attend.
Alumni, Ruby Sear in upcoming horror Clayface
We are delighted to highlight alumna Ruby Sear, who studied her GCSEs, including Drama, at Hampstead Fine Arts College from 2015–2018 and is continuing to make her mark in the acting world. Ruby gained widespread recognition for her role as Gabrielle in Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix series The Gentlemen, which proved to be a breakout role in her screen career. She is now set to appear in the highly anticipated DC Studios film, Clayface, further cementing her status as one of the UK’s rising acting talents. We are thrilled to see her continued success and look forward to following the next stage of her career.
