Weekly Newsletter for Parents 13.02

Posted: 13th February 2026

Welcome from Candy & Emmy

We are reaching the end of a short but very intense half term, and everyone is ready for a well-deserved break. Our Year 13 students are receiving a steady flow of UCAS offers, our Year 11 students have selected their A-level subjects, and our Year 9 students are considering which GCSE subject choices they will make next year. Years 10 and 12 are immersed in their subjects without the imminent pressure of public examinations.

Update on UCAS Offers

Our Upper Sixth students continue to receive exciting offers from universities. A number of them are now holding offers from Bristol, King’s College London, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow and Queen Mary, University of London. Many others have also received offers for creative degrees from the colleges of University of the Arts London, as well as from Glasgow School of Art and Leeds Arts University. We are really pleased with the achievements of all our students.

Mock Week for Upper Sixth Students

Mock Week for Upper Sixth students will commence upon return from half-term (Monday 23rd February). The mock examinations are important preparation for the students’ A-levels. We wish students every success as they approach the week ahead.

Enrichment Talk

Our next Enrichment talk, after half term, will be on the topic that is by far the most often requested by students – Understanding Money! Margaret Park will explain credit cards, debit cards, Revolut-type cards, compound interest (good and bad) rental and housing costs, income tax, student loans etc. All essential for the students’ next steps into the wider world.

Lower Sixth Parents Evening

After half-term, on Wednesday 25th February, we will have Year 12 Parents’ Meeting at Centre Studios, starting at 4pm, with last entry at 5pm. We look forward to seeing all Lower Sixth parents then.

Trip to Theatre Picasso at Tate Modern

On Wednesday, our Foundation and Year 13 Art students visited Theatre Picasso at Tate Modern. This comprehensive exhibition included many iconic paintings from private collections not previously shown in the UK. Amongst the most engaging works on display was a film projection of the artist at work in the 1950s. Our students were excited at seeing Picasso’s process brought to life and the use of film as a medium is one many are now exploring in their chosen pathways as they begin their final projects.

Lunch Provisions

The student voice is always important to us and we regularly review our provision to ensure we are offering the best possible experience. There has been very limited demand for on-site lunches, so these will no longer be provided as students seem to prefer using the wide range of cafes and shops in the local area. We will explore other possibilities for providing on-site refreshments – expect to receive a survey!

Congratulations to our Foundation Student, Luella

Our Foundation Course student, Luella, has been offered a place at Central Saint Martins to study Graphic Design. Over the last year she has made exceptional progress on the Foundation Course, exploring a wide range of mediums, processes and themes while developing a confident and distinctive visual language. In addition to her offer from CSM, she has also received offers from several other leading universities — a wonderful recognition of her hard work, creativity and commitment.
