Weekly Newsletter for Parents 23.01

Posted: 23rd January 2026

Welcome from Candy & Emmy

A highlight of this week was Ed Knox’s talk to Staff and Sixth Form students entitled Crossing the Curriculum with Dante’s Commedia. It was an inspiring talk on this fourteenth century poet’s influence on the arts, scientific enquiry, philosophical thought and theology. These three-weekly cross curricular talks are a brilliant addition to all our understanding and learning.

January Open Day

Next Tuesday, we will host our January Open Day where we will be showcasing our many subjects at Centre Studios and our new site at Parkhill. We believe that prospective students and parents can only really understand what makes Hampstead Fine Arts College so special by coming to visit us and experiencing our unique atmosphere for themselves. More information here.

Parents Evening

Next Wednesday, 28th January, we have Year 11 Parents Evening in Centre Studios, starting at 4pm, with last entry at 5pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

Year 9s visits Young V&As

On Wednesday, our Year 9s enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Young V&A with Gabi. They loved exploring the inspiring exhibitions and even had a go at tufting themselves! The visit was a valuable and enjoyable part of their research for the current theme, ‘Home’, and sparked lots of creativity and discussion back in the classroom.

Upcoming Trips

Next Wednesday, Year 12s will be going to the V&A South Kensington to see the Marie Antoinette exhibition.

A complex fashion icon, Marie Antoinette’s timeless appeal is defined by her style, youth and notoriety. Exploring the lasting influence of the most fashionable (and ill-fated) queen in history – with over 250 years of design, fashion, film and art.

Congratulations to our Graphics Student, Josh

We are delighted to celebrate our Year 13 Graphics student, Josh, who was the winner of the ‘Under 18s Animation’ category at the Future World Film Festival. Josh’s five-minute animated film, Ensemble, explores themes of community and passion and was showcased at Lisbon’s iconic São Jorge Cinema — the largest cinema in the city.

Create Art, Not Waste

With the advent of spring (and the end of mocks), HFAC’s Sustainability Committee has pupated from hibernation.

The next meeting will be in Parkhill room 11, Thursday 29th January at 3.45pm. Everyone is welcome — please join to share ideas, get involved, and help us create positive change.

Student Council

This week the student council planned the following:

Whiteboard will be put up in student common room to keep all students updated with the student council.
We will hold an End of Year BBQ at Parkhill in May, instead of the usual Leavers Lunch.
Culture Day event will be mid-March – more information to come
A survey will be rolling out in the coming weeks to see how students feel about catering, facilities, etc

MARCH OPEN DAY

We believe that prospective students and parents can only really understand what makes Hampstead Fine Arts College so special by coming to visit us and experiencing our unique atmosphere for themselves.

At our Open Day you will hear in more detail about the values and vision of the College, its staff and its students, and enjoy a full tour of the College as well as the opportunity to speak to members of staff.

After this, you are welcome to book an interview with the Principal or the Head which is an opportunity to discuss subject choices in the context of each student’s personal interests and higher education goals.
