Welcome from Candy & Emmy
The practical examinations are now completed, and both the A-level and GCSE students are working hard on their academic subjects. These exams are running from now until late June. We wish everyone the best of luck. This term our Year 9, 10 and 12 students are being introduced to a wider understanding of their subjects with visits to parliament, historic houses, museums, theatre, and concerts in London and further afield. Particular favourites among the day trips are always the Oxford and Cambridge visits.
This week’s Enrichment Talk
On Tuesday, Francesca Murialdo, head of the Interior Architecture and Design degree at Middlesex University and professor at Politecnico di Milano, came to speak about the course and about the transformative power of interior design. She showed images of work that has changed how people use and feel about public spaces, increasing engagement and attachment to our built environment.
Year 9 & 10 PSHE Workshops
On Wednesday, Shirldon Barthelmy from the Brook Euston clinic came in to do workshops with Years 9 & 10 on contraception, the effective use of condoms and negotiating safer sex. Shirldon has been delivering our Relationship and Sexual Education (RSE) guest talks for 25 years and brings a wealth of understanding and experience to the role.
Next week’s Enrichment Talk
Next Tuesday, Rosie Cumber from Admissions at University of the Arts, London, will explain the six UAL colleges and talk about how to prepare a winning portfolio. It will be valuable advice for students applying to creative degrees or foundation courses anywhere. (This talk has been rescheduled from April).
Year 9 and 10 Parents Evening
Next Wednesday 13th May, we will have the Year 9 and 10 Parents’ Evening at Centre Studios, starting at 4pm, with last entry at 5pm. We look forward to seeing all Year 9 and 10 parents then.
Celebrating Our Heroes Behind the Crown
We are delighted to congratulate key staff members, Emma, Jenny and Sarmad on receiving the Heroes Behind the Crown award at last night’s fabulous Dukes Education ceremony. The awards were presented by Dukes Education Chairman, Aatif Hassan, and CEO Tim Fish, celebrating those dedicated individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make a difference every day. The award recognises the people “out of the limelight” – those who work diligently, quietly and with humility, always going the extra mile to support others and help their settings thrive. Emma (Head of Sociology), Jenny (SEN Co-ordinator) and Sarmad (Health & Safety Premises Manager) are truly deserving recipients of this recognition. We are immensely proud and grateful for all that they do for our college community. Congratulations to all three on this wonderful achievement.

Aluma, Mia Cinamon’s exhibition ‘Impressions’
We are delighted to highlight alumna Mia Cinamon, who studied A-Levels at Fine Arts College and whose latest exhibition Impressions is currently on display at the Photobook Café Gallery in London. The exhibition features a series of intimate black-and-white and colour portraits of artists and musicians, alongside a handmade photobook created for her Central Saint Martins graduate show. Mia, who graduated from CSM in 2025, was recognised as an Emerging Talent Finalist by the Association of Photographers, continuing an exciting and rapidly growing career in image-making and visual storytelling.
