Ed Knox

Ed Knox studied French & Spanish at Oriel College, Oxford (1973-77) and then obtained his PGCE from Leeds University. During his first teaching job, Ed studied part-time for an MA in Spanish at Birkbeck College, London. He then reverted to full-time study, working for an MPhil on the Colombian novelist Gabriel García Márquez. It was in 1985 while completing this research that Ed first joined Fine Arts on a part-time basis in 1985, becoming a full-time member of staff and Head of Languages in 1990. In 2002, Ed was appointed Vice-Principal, with particular responsibility for managing the College’s Careers Service.

Ed’s particular interest is translation: he has obtained the Institute of Linguists’ Diploma in Translation of both French and Spanish into English and he has been an examiner for this professional examination for a number of years. Outside interests centre on reading and sport, both as participator and spectator (as an incorrigible Spurs supporter).
