Textile Design is a multi-disciplinary course offering a range of textile design specialisms including stitch, weave, print and mixed media.

Throughout the course there is a strong emphasis on visual research for design and concept development. Research is recorded using sketchbooks and an independent, creative approach is encouraged. Ideas and concepts are developed individually using a wide variety of technique and process. A strong emphasis is put on exploration and experimentation of media and materials and the individual planning and execution of personal projects. Cross-over between all subjects is encouraged.

The programme will include visits to exhibitions, studio work, project work and independent study. A broad area of investigation is required to respond to briefs and to place work in a historical and contemporary context.

The course is open and flexible enabling you to cross boundaries and to direct your work towards fashion, interiors, craft or textile art for galleries and enables you to prepare a portfolio for a higher education interview.
