YOU ARE AT ::: FOUNDATION > PRINT MAKING & GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION

The printmaking and Graphic communication option of the Foundation course is designed to introduce students to the exciting opportunities for creating images through print making, collage, painting and drawing.

Students will be able to use printmaking to develop and structure images, both figurative and non-figurative using techniques such as collographs, wood-cuts, lino-cuts, drypoint, monoprinting, etching and silkscreen.

Experimentation through printmaking will also be strongly encouraged, and prints could be presented as finished 'pieces' in their own right, or be used as preparatory work for larger painted or mixed media work.

Students should take notice of the many graphic images that surround us in the urban environment and are encouraged to experiment and develop skills in areas of Illustration, Advertising and Typography.

Collographs, wood-cuts, lino-cuts, drypoint, etching, monoprints and silkscreen will be used in printmaking whilst collage, stencils, painting, drawing and some CAD will be used for graphic art and illustration.
