The Fine Arts College Foundation Course is an accredited BTEC Diploma in Art and Design offering formal training in drawing, painting, print making, photography, film making, textiles and three dimensional work supplemented by contextual studies.

The course is based on the best of the academic tradition and is a unique specialist programme offering an intensive introduction to Art and Design.

There is a strong emphasis on traditional techniques and skills providing students with the necessary experience and portfolio to enter higher education at university or art school level or as the basis of working practice for the independent artist.

Students are encouraged to develop their own personal style by experimenting in a wide variety of media and approaches and are encouraged to develop their potential as an artist/designer working independently exploring new ideas and methodologies and learning to formulate and express opinions articulately.

The course is largely studio based with a dedicated building situated close to the main college. There are also weekly trips to current exhibitions as part of contextual studies as well as regular visits to London’s many museums and galleries for the development of observation and ideas through sketchbooks.
