Laurence Bowkett, oil on canvas, by Nicholas Cochrane

In order to make independent education more widely available, we offer a limited number of scholarships and bursaries to full-time students each year. Bursaries are awarded to students who have previously been educated within the state system or who would not normally be able to afford private education. All our bursaries are means tested.

LAURENCE BOWKETT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Laurence Bowkett taught at the Fine Arts College from 1988 until his death in 2002. A graduate in Ancient History and Archaeology, Laurence was a practising archaeologist who worked all over Europe and published a book on Hellenistic Mycenae and a textbook for A level archaeology. Laurence inspired generations of students with his passion for the ancient world and was much loved as a paternal, caring Director of GCSE, which made him a very special member of the College for the younger students. In memory of Laurence we may offer a free place to one student annually entering the first year of A level studies.
