Music Technology A level is an excellent option for students who have a solid grounding in and enthusiasm for music of all kinds and who are particularly interested in developing skills in the areas of studio recording, sequencing, arranging and improvising and composing for specialised purposes such as film and music with vocals/ ‘lyrics’.
In the course of their A level studies, students will explore a variety of techniques used in studio sequencing (e.g. MIDI quantization) and recording (e.g. the use of multi-track and two-track recording systems). They will learn to use software such as ProTools, Logic, Sibelius 4 and Reason.
Students will be expected to have completed GCSE Music or Grade Five Theory.
