How was it possible for someone like Hitler and in what circumstances might such a thing occur again? Just because we live in a democracy now, is it inevitable that we always will?
The above issue – of democracy versus dictatorship – forms the core of History A Level. In it we shall be studying the major totalitarian dictatorships of the 20th Century (Hitler’s Germany and Stalin’s Soviet Union) alongside political and foreign policy developments in the UK from 1919 to 1940. No previous knowledge of the subject is required.
