Film studies offers students the opportunity to deepen their understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of film, the major art form of the twentieth century. Students are introduced to the language of film, particularly the relationship between the film and the spectator. Among the debates explored are industrial issues around production and consumption. Some of the debates – the global dominance of Hollywood, strategies for supporting indigenous film and the significance of fandom.
